I went to the Museum of the City of New York in 1987 and saw the Stettheimer Dollhouse. The dolls were in the rooms. I don't understand why they are not in the rooms now. My favorite room, which you did not show, was the Chinese room, dark red, ornate, with Gertrude Stein and Alice Toklas playing mahjong. Ina Claire is behind a curtain, shooting a syringe into her arm. There were other figures, but those are the ones I remember. I'm glad I got to see it before it was encased behind some kind of barrier, like it seems to be in these photos.

I remember my mother sharing stories of being on the rooftop in the evening and the summer when it was really hot they would bring up their mattresses and look up at the stars and it was a four family tournament and they could come together and have deep connection this reminded me of that thank you Cindy

It used to be that the voice of the more religious-oriented was the lone voice you heard calling for solidarity and mercy. Now the loudest voices claiming to speak for God are obsessed with power, privlege and hatred. And therefore the more Christlike a person is the more they've been repulsed from Him by those who represent Him so loudly and poorly. Especially young people. When He spoke about those who keep children from knowing Him, He was referring to conservatives, make no mistake.

I'm so lucky my history teacher assigned this- I can learn about this mans great work. Its amazing how we can cast such a blind eye to this part of history, and still do that today. In NYC stuff like this is still happening.

I apologize for losing my temper when I saw the show for kids in gaza with farfaoule I was so disturbed by it and lashed out saying you can’t lead a women’s march because what mother is ok with that? anyway you are not responsible for that show anymore than i am responsible for what some fascist in another country does. I was angry and out of line and I am sorry Linda 🕊️💙

As a bookseller, Jacob Riis' photo journalistic books were on my always buy list. We have many great American photographers who deserve pre-eminent positions on the list of exquisite and/or life altering photographs. However Riss is in a class unto his own. His photos are devastating and soul wrenching yet leave us with a desire to assist those less fortunate. They are a window to the past and a door to the present. His photos provide us connection with those we may only glance at. If you've never studied his photos, his books are readily available on eBay.

When Albert King was voted 🗳 the #1 high school 🏀player in AMERICA 🇺🇸 not just New York, this generational 🏀 Super-Talent would "levitate at the 11-feet MARK on the 🏀 backboard on a regular basis. Forte'- blocking shots into the seventh row if an opponent or one of their fans said something far beyond the line of respectfulness, {stayed after the game an hour signing autographs, laughing and talking with regular hardworking local people. SLAM DUNKING on 7feet tall professional🏀 players as a high school student/athlete was a favorite Albert King pastime.Gonzaga High School, Washington DC, NBA Great Phil Chenier, NBA Hall of Famer Adrian Dantley and New York high school 🏫 sensation Albert King in the game today???WHO??? Well, the capacity overflow witnesses at Gonzaga High School that day listened to the 1969 top high school 🏀player in Washington DC, Broadcasting 🎤 🎙 Hall of Famer JAMES BROWN announce the "Arrival of the One and Only King 🤴 Albert. Amazingly Accurate jumpshot, Superb ball handling, formidable defender, PREMIUM SHOT BLOCKER {New York 🏀 players can block your jumpshot in a manner that will compel you to give serious consideration to the costs and benefits to one's state of mind to continue fooling one's self about a viable future in 🏀 TENNIS, GOLF ⛳️ BADMINTON 🏸might not be so bad after all 😢😮. Albert King was played out of his natural position of POINT GUARD in forward positions during his career in the NBA 🏀. My choice would have been POINT 👉 GUARD because being a teammate of Albert King in his PRIME was like playing with Connie Hawkins, Elgin Baylor, Gus Johnson, "Sweet Pea", Herman "the Helicopter" Knownings, Joe "the Destroyer" Hammond [all in ONE Player, folks]. Albert didn't mind you comparing him to older brother NBA Hall of Famer Bernard King😊Just don't say he was better.

The world can be such a cruel and heartless place. It’s wild how poorly the US has always treated its immigrants. The stat about 1-in-10 NewYorkers living and dying in anonymous filth was shocking. All those lives… They all could have been something wonderful if only they’d had the resources. We humans are capable of so much more. 🥺

This is a good video, but it could have been a great one if it were not for the phony sounding voiceover. I assume Terry Borton of the American Magic Lantern Theater is the voice we are hearing. I have seen documentarians successfully mix recreated visual and audio elements into their work in the past, but the narrative delivery is overly dramatic and unrealistic to an extent that almost downgrades the substance of the photos. I am sure Mr. Borton is a great actor with a great command and understanding of drama and theater, but I am not sure that knowledge was put to good use here.
